Racecourse Backpackers Hostel was opened in the early 2000s with the goal of creating a home away from home like haven for our guests!   

The backpacker/motel styled units were constructed using comtemporary building materials, formerly horse stables. Recently spectacularly refurbished without losing the charm of the buildings.  

We have private and dorm rooms available.

1st Dorm/quad room: 2 bunks for up to 4 people.

2nd Dorm/quad room: 1 bunk and 1 double bed for up to 4 people.

Some private rooms have hand basins. Shared facilities.

Private room types: single/twin, twin double room, double, triple, queen and quad.

Triple room: one double and one single bed.

Single/twin room: 2 single beds at $50 for 2 people Twin Double Room: 2 double beds at $60 for 2 people Queen Room: 1 queen bed at $60 for 2 people

Bed sheets and linen are provided with all rooms. All rooms are also equipped with built-in heaters, mini-fridges, TV, desk, chair.

Casual, short and long term accommodation. In addition, we have powered parking lots for caravans, campervans and motor homes. The premises is wheelchair and disability friendly.

Racecourse Backpackers Hostel is clean, warm and friendly with comfortable beds, close to a wide range of Christchurch attractions. We are the closest budget accommodation to the Riccarton Rotary Sunday Market and Christchurch Airport. Close to the City Centre, restaurants and cafes, University of Canterbury, Lincoln University, good schools, bus connections, closest shopping malls to our hostel are Westfield Riccarton, Bush Inn Centre, The Hub Hornby, Church Corner, and Peerswick.
